This syndrome can be definited as the happening of thrombosis or recurrent miscarriage with laboratory evidence of antiphospholipid antibody existence that is not intermittent. One of antiphospholipid antibody is “lupus anticoagulant” that early detected on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patient and be identified with prolong plasma APTT that can not be corrected with mix normal plasma 50:50.

Dilute Russel viper venom test also used for diagnostic. Examination on solid phase and coagulation test for lupus anticoagulant must be used for antiphospholipid syndrome diagnostic. Not only at SLE disease but also at antiphospholipid syndrome disease found on other autoimmune disease, especially on connective tissue, lymphoprolipherative disease, postinfection of viral, with certain drugs such as phenotiazine, and idiophatic phenomenon on healthy person.

Based on this disease condition, that is related with arterial and vein thrombosis. Arterial thrombosis can cause ischaemic on pheripheral extremity, stroke, and myocardial infarction. It is also like the other cause of thrombophilia, there is also related to  plasenta infarction then become recurrent miscarriage.

Skin disease clinical manifestations  that often happen are effect of thrombositopenia and also can find livido reticularis.

The treatment is using anticoagulant if indicated. INR ratio is usually defended between 2,0 and 3,0 with warfarin, but may be needed higher rate if arterial thrombosis or deep vein thrombosis happened before or there is recurrent thrombosis during warfarin therapy.
Aspirin and low dose heparin is useful for recurrent miscarriage treatment.

Vascular collagen disease and Behscet syndrome are also related with arterial thrombosis and vein thrombosis with or without existence of lupus anticoagulant. (doc b3ty)
