Women health issues are always complicated and therefore women all over the world have to make sure that they take better care of themselves especially those who are pregnant. There are many complications that can happen during pregnancy period and therefore women have to be extra careful of how they are handling themselves and what kind of food they are consuming because it certainly affects the baby in the womb. In the last few decades the rate of premature births have gone up and therefore organizations like March of Dimes have come up to bring them down.

As per the latest March of Dimes 2011 premature birth report card things have certainly gone on the better side and the report also reveals that things have improved drastically in the United States. The report mentioned that preterm birth rate shows three years improvement in US and most States. As per the report the premature birth rate in the US in 2006 was around 12.8% but it declined to 12.2% in the year 2009 which means that the campaigns started by the government is working and people are taking this awareness campaign seriously.


The report also provided numbers of how premature birth rates have come down in the last three years in the United States. As per the latest 2011 report, Puerto Rico and three other states have got F while District of Columbia and other 11 states manage to get a D. Apart from that there are 19 other states that have got a C and 16 states have got a B. Vermont is the only state in the US that enjoy an A. As per the report and information, March of Dimes have provided a C to the United States when it comes to overall premature birth rate report.
